Fertility Specialists Told Ashley That IVF Was Her Only Option
Eighteen months had passed, and Ashley still wasn’t pregnant. After various unsuccessful treatments, multiple fertility specialists delivered the same bad news: in vitro fertilization (IVF) was her only remaining hope. Because Ashley had low anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels, an indicator of egg reserve, one specialist took it a step further, recommending donor-egg IVF.
“I was exhausted and really struggling – I really didn’t want to do IVF,” she says.
She and her husband Nathan were about to take a break and figure out their next steps when a friend’s mom recommended that she make an appointment with Dr. Gavin Puthoff to see if he could offer anything different. This would be her fifth specialist, but she figured it was worth a shot.
After learning to chart her cycles using the Creighton Model, Ashley had her first consult with Dr. Puthoff. “It was a totally different experience than I’d had with other specialists because he actually wanted to find out what was causing my infertility and fix it.”
Miraculously, following just one treatment cycle that included ovulation medications, charting and ultrasounds, Ashley conceived her son Brock. The charting was particularly helpful, she says because it helped her understand what was going on with her body.
She returned to Dr. Puthoff in 2019 for help conceiving her second child. After a few rounds of injectable medications, she again achieved pregnancy and welcomed Luke to the family in 2020.
Considering that Ashley was just a few months away from IVF before receiving that recommendation from her friend’s mom, she describes finding Dr. Puthoff as “an amazing touch-from-God kind of moment and completely life-changing.”
“We saw our fourth specialist for the last time in October of 2015. Just four months later, with the help of Dr. Puthoff, we were pregnant with our first baby. It was unbelievable,” Ashley says. “I had to take multiple pregnancy tests just to make sure because I couldn’t believe it after all that time. It still blows my mind. Now we have two babies from his amazing miracle work.”
